ABOUT CORE SERVICES

Core Services Hood Cleaning & Fire Prevention is a rapidly growing hood cleaning and fire prevention company based in San Diego, CA. We're a lean, hands-on team — the Owner, an office/admin lead, and a crew of field technicians — serving restaurants and commercial kitchens across the county. We move fast, we hold people accountable, and we're building the systems and leadership bench to scale well past where we are today.

THE ROLE

We're hiring a Head of Operations to take full ownership of day-to-day field operations so the Owner can focus on sales and growing the business. This is not a caretaker role. You will own scheduling, crew accountability, quality control, training, and inventory — and your job is to model perfection and hold yourself and everyone around you to our high standards, every single day.

This role starts field-heavy and shifts toward leadership-heavy as the company scales and as you build out the team beneath you. If you're the kind of person who sees a problem, fixes it, and tells us afterward — not the kind who waits to be asked twice — this is your seat.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

- Eliminate reservice issues through real systems, not paperwork that sits in a folder.
- Build dependable, well-trained crews who show up prepared and do the job right the first time.
- Standardize training so every new hire ramps the same way, every time.
- Own scheduling end to end — crews know where they're going and what they're doing, every day.
- Own quality control — every job closed out correctly, every time, no exceptions.
- Own inventory and supply management — no more guessing what's on the van or in the shop.
- Support the customer experience alongside our office team.
- Model perfection and hold yourself and everyone around you to our high standards in everything you do.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

Scheduling & Crew Coordination
- Build and publish the weekly schedule.
- Assign technicians per job and designate roof vs. ground roles.
- Send the schedule template via WhatsApp and confirm every acknowledgment.
- Manage schedule swaps and callouts in real time.

Pre-Service Communication
- Handle morning-of confirmations with customers.
- Confirm lockbox/alarm codes and any roof access changes ahead of arrival.
- Verify special instructions and keep notes current in our routing/customer software.

Quality Control & Job Review
- Every morning: review the previous night's completed jobs in our routing/customer software.
- Verify photo completeness, form completion, and proper job closeout.
- Follow up immediately — same day — on anything missing.
- For priority clients: conduct post-service inspections, own reservice coordination, and communicate directly with the customer.

Training & Onboarding
- Run the first two ride-alongs for every new hire.
- Use a structured onboarding checklist and confirm competency before anyone works independently.
- Make sure every tech understands the roof process, ground process, photo standards, documentation, and safety expectations — for real, not just in theory.
- Set the tone: every new hire should see what it looks like to model perfection and hold themselves to a high standard from day one.

Leadership & Accountability
- Run a weekly team meeting on a fixed day and time.
- Conduct monthly 1:1s with each technician.
- Track documentation compliance and enforce consequences for repeated failures — consistently.
- Hold yourself and everyone around you to our high standards — no exceptions, no excuses.

Inventory & Supply Management
- Run a weekly inventory audit every Monday and keep the tracking sheet current.
- Order supplies proactively — and manage spend like it's your own money. No blank checks.
- Keep every van properly and consistently stocked.
- Own preventive maintenance scheduling for vans and equipment — oil changes, fluid checks, pressure washer upkeep — before small issues become expensive ones.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

This role is measured, not vibes-based. You'll own a weekly dashboard covering:

- All photos and forms completed correctly, on every job
- All jobs closed out properly in our routing/customer software
- Post-service inspections completed for every first-time service
- All customer review inquiries handled
- Daily team check-ins and day-of reminders completed
- Weekly inventory audit and van equipment checks completed
- Weekly schedule published every Sunday by 5:00 PM
- Training shifts and onboarding completed on schedule
- Crew hitting a consistent 22–23 completed jobs per week

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- 3+ years in a leadership or operations role in hood cleaning, commercial cleaning, field services, HVAC, pest control, landscaping, or a similar route-based trade.
- A track record of building systems that people actually follow — not just writing them down.
- Comfortable with routing/customer software and general tech-savviness; you pick up new tools quickly.
- Sharp with vehicles and equipment — you know what proactive maintenance looks like and you don't let small problems turn into breakdowns.
- A cost-conscious operator — you treat supplies, fuel, and vendor spend like it's coming out of your own pocket.
- Someone who leads from the front: sets the standard, holds people accountable, and doesn't disappear when things get hard.
- Low ego, high ownership. You tell us what broke and what you did about it — not what you're planning to eventually get to.
- A relentless standard-setter who models perfection and expects the same from every person on the team.
- Works a standard 40-hour week, mainly 9 AM–5 PM, with flexibility for the occasional early morning or evening training session.

COMPENSATION & GROWTH

- Base salary: $65,000–$85,000/year, based on experience.
- Performance incentives — bonuses added on top of your base salary for hitting the mark.
- Real growth path: as the company scales and you build out the team and systems, so does your compensation — including long-term profit-sharing potential for the right person.

We're a profitable, rapidly growing company that's investing in the leadership and systems needed to scale to the next level. We need someone who wants to build something and grow with it — not just clock in.
